Mostly thanks for taking the time to put this together. Great advice, and of course, your work looks great. Inspires me to work harder to bring my own stuff up to snuff. But at least we have a few options as you described in your post. I love to paint however I love the flexibility of PS as it is endless."Maggie & Kevin"https://www.blogger.com/profile/00750859615565551050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6978260059765309713.post-31077941554861283872008-02-05T21:19:00.000-07:002008-02-05T21:19:00.000-07:00Hi "maggie"I have the same problem with the expand...Hi "maggie"

I have the same problem with the expand fill. If it would be too much work to just go touch up the edges, I would color the line to match the fill. Basically I would make a duplicate of the line layer, erase everything except for the section you want, color it the same as the fill (with preserve transparency! :-), and then merge the two.

I've done that a couple times in the past, but it's kind of a pain. Most of the time I'm finding once I get the basic colors and some rough shading put down, I merge the whole illustration into one layer and paint on it like I used to back in the day when I used *real* paint!

I suppose that should be the next tutorial... maybe in a few weeks. :-)marynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15294834997240172522noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6978260059765309713.post-15393396762684346742008-02-05T19:46:00.000-07:002008-02-05T19:46:00.000-07:00Only one more small question. I find when add the color on a separate layer then hide the line drawing I have to really clean up the edges of color as they look so rough.

Sorry, I deleted the last post as I had asked the question incorrectly."Maggie & Kevin"https://www.blogger.com/profile/00750859615565551050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6978260059765309713.post-43498468696829917612008-02-05T19:44:00.000-07:002008-02-05T19:44:00.000-07:00This comment has been removed by the author."Maggie & Kevin"https://www.blogger.com/profile/00750859615565551050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6978260059765309713.post-33843355927831971242008-02-05T19:25:00.000-07:002008-02-05T19:25:00.000-07:00Maryn,Yes, you answered it perfectly. I have a question regarding the preserve transparency in "the details." When you created the curly Q's and colored them gold and preserved the transparency did you create the shadowing on a different layer then merge down? I still am a bit unclear about the preserve transparency tool."Maggie & Kevin"https://www.blogger.com/profile/00750859615565551050noreply@blogger.com
