pink drawing

And here's another little rough warm-up drawing. It's kinda fun coloring these loose sketches without having to worry about them being all nice and clean.

Your illustrations are so charming, I love the rough quality of this one.

May I ask, how did you get the lines to be pink? This is coming from a rank Photoshop novice, I know so little!

HI Carol - thanks!

There are lots of ways to do this, but the simplest, and the way I did this picture, is pretty straightforward. I made a new transparent layer (left the bottom layer white) and drew with the paintbrush using pink. I made another layer underneath the pink line layer and filled in the other colors. Then back on the pink line layer I cleaned some parts up and darkened some of the lines with a darker shade of pink.

Hope that helps!

Oh my gosh, that's even more remarkable! The lines look so natural and "pencil-like", I just assumed that you drew them and then scanned them in. Really nice!

those stray lines can create... a raw and softer quality, or even an extra tuch of emotion. hehe like to see it...
